My sweet friend Rachel of Joy Monet Photography, told me she had made mood boards for every month last year. I loved the idea, and decided to copy her ;)

But really, I think it is such a wonderful, no pressure way to catalogue the things you find beautiful. Often times when I have felt creatively dry I've looked at the board and found renewed excitement to create. It's also interesting to see a pattern of what colors, textures or type catch your eye.

Something my friend Stephie Joy said once stuck with me. Forgive me for paraphrasing, but it was something like this... "the way you see the world, in it's colors and textures, and what you create from what you see; it is imporant."

So here is a look at what my eyes saw as beautiful in January of 2017.

3. I will always love mixed medias. Paint over print, over an image. I sometimes wish my doodles could jump off of paper and mingle with the real world. Credit - Keaton Henson

5. This color has been my jam so far in 2017. Call me crazy but I think Pantone got it wrong when they picked greenery for the color of the year rather than this guy. Credit - Pantone

6. It's fun when on of my own images inspires me. I love messy hands, willow charcoal, and the light from that day. Credit - Me
