October 2024
I’m cocooned in my house enjoying an early fall rain storm feeling energized and inspired by the chaotic weather outside. This is the first of a monthly update you can expect from me where I’ll catch you up, and hopefully add some delightful inspiration into your day.
I know I'm not alone when I say that October is one of my favorite months, we get the perfect mix of sunny & moody days that I find very energizing. It’s also my birthday month, and while I’m a bit birthday awkward my nostalgic side is very enhanced this time of year.
INSPIRED BY:
Light of all kinds are igniting my brain currently. Moonlight, sunlight, stage lights, the glow of a late dinner… I’m excited to release that inspiration on to new canvases. I never know how an inspiration will show up in a painting but I hope you’ll be able to see threads of warm light through my upcoming work.
Additionally deep warm hues & sumptuous fabrics are very comforting to me right now. As well as anything with some patina, story, or interesting geometric lines.
A GOOD FOLLOW:
Someone that I’ve had the joy of collaborating with over the years, Molly Kidd, just branched out on her own and started her own design firm. Molly is such a star and it is so much fun to watch her rise. Check out her new website here, you’ll get a sneak peak of a recent install of hers including a painting we worked on together.
LATEST WORKS:
These paintings were inspired by my life in my early 30’s. Things feel a bit more complex, the decisions heavier than they did in my 20’s. I hope you can relate ;) The soft color palettes and the way the shapes manage to fit together point to an overall sense of hope and harmony for the future.
Song for Listening
Dream on — Ben Rector
This song has meant a lot to me over the years, but especially in this phase of my life I’m finding it very encouraging.
